Senator French serves on: Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources; General Laws and Technology; and Rehabilitation and Social Services Committees. 
Senator French opposed SB3 in the Agriculture, Conservation & Naturalresources committee, but the bill has moved forward anyway. This is the Democrat-supported bill that obligates Virginia to tie itself California’s climate-related emissions standards.

Legislation Overview:
​Delegate Oates serves on the Public Safety & Cities; Counties and Towns Committees and is carrying 9 bills.
  • Women in sports (HB1120) - Aims to protect females by prohibiting males from participating on middle and high school sports teams that are designated for women.
  • Rape Shield (HB1086) - Admission of evidence, evidentiary hearings, excluded persons. Aims to protect victims of rape.
The Vaping bill died in subcommittee. The bill revised the penalties for selling nicotine to minors (Increases the civil penalty from $100 to $500 for a first violation, $200 to $1,000 for a second violation, and $500 to $2,500 for a third or subsequent violation). Subcommittee feedback was inconsistent, some saying it was too extreme, others noting it was not extreme enough.
Two student technology bills; one has to do with data mining and the other has to do with student privacy.
